FAQ
PLC stands for Programmable Logic Controller.
In manufacturing, it acts as the "industrial brain" of a factory. It is a ruggedized computer used to automate hardware—controlling everything from assembly lines and robotic arms to lighting and chemical processing—ensuring high-speed precision and 24/7 reliability in harsh industrial environments.
Manufacturing in Singapore: The Landscape
The demand for PLC skills is driven by Singapore's massive industrial base. According to data from the Singapore Department of Statistics (DOS):
Total Manufacturing Establishments: There are approximately 10,604 manufacturing plants and establishments operating in Singapore (2023 census).
Economic Impact: Manufacturing is a key pillar of the economy, contributing roughly 20% to 25% of Singapore's annual GDP.
Key Sectors: This includes high-tech clusters in Electronics, Chemicals, Biomedical Sciences, and Precision Engineering—all of which rely heavily on PLC automation.
